【ACTIONS】
Drains the Lungs, reduces Phlegm and calms wheezing；
Circulates water and reduces edema
【Indications/Syndromes】
Phlegm accumulation or Lung Heat with wheezing or cough with copious sputum and a gurgling sound in the throat；
Lung and Bladder Qi Obstruction with facial edema, eye swelling or fluid accumulation in the chest or abdomen with urinary difficulty
【Cautions& Contraindications】
Contraindicated for those with cough and wheezing due to Lung Qi Deficiency (unless combined with Qi tonics).
Contraindicated for those with edema due to Spleen Qi Deficiency (unless combined with Qi tonics).
Contraindicated for those with urinary dysfunction from Bladder Qi Deficiency (unless combined with Qi tonics).
Contraindicated during pregnancy.
【HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS】
Concurrent use with diuretics such as chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide furosimide (Lasix) bumetanide (Bumex) and torsemide (Demadex) may lead to increased elimination of water and electrolytes.
